Buenos Aires is brimming with sights to see and things to do, but finding the best of the activities can be hard to do. Here is a list of the top five to get you started:
Teatro Colon – Regarded as the best opera house in the world and has retained this high esteem for the 100 years due to its perfect design and wonderful interior. The theater also houses one of the most extensive collections of costumes on earth. Tours run on weekdays at 11.
Buenos Aires Restaurants – Tender red meat and full bodied red wine will likely be on the menu. Buenos Aires is renamed for its exquisite restaurants. The district of Puerto Madero is well-known for its diverse restaurants. Some of the better known dishes are bife de lomo (tenderloin steak), and bife de chorizo (sirloin). The best cuts of meat best accompanied by red Malbec wine from Argentine wine regions. There is also a very popular caf culture. One of the oldest and must visit is Caf Tortoni.
La Boca Junior Football Game – If there is one thing that the Argentines are passionate about, it is no doubt their football. Many say that La Boca Junior is more than a religion. The fanatics will take support to the extreme: cheering, screaming, bringing the stadium to its knees. Make sure you book well in advanced, and that you have a seat or a spot to stand. Careful on the way out as there is a tradition of rioting. If you survive, it will be an unforgettable experience.
Florida Pedestrian Street – Lined with shops and running through the center of the city, one of the cities prettier streets for its grand architecture. There are an endless number of shops for almost everything that you can think of: leather, clothes, books, musics and electronics. At times, you may also see free tango shows and street music performances creating huge crowds. It is home to one of the most beautiful shopping malls in the world called Galera Pacifico, but please do a close eye on your wallet in this area.
Nightlife – From Tango to Drum & Bass, there is a diversity of music and night life in Buenos Aires that will leave any tourist asking for more. The night starts late (clubs do not usually open until 1am) and lasts until sun is already out in the morning. Some even have captivating laser shows. The best of the bars are located in the Palermo district.
